As a high school student in the 11th grade, at Jewish Culture High School, I was inspired to create this nonprofit organization, TikkunHomeProject, out of a deep sense of empathy and the recognition that we often take our everyday comforts for granted. It all began when I became increasingly aware of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in my community. I witnessed the daily struggles they endured due to inaccessible living spaces, and it struck me. It became clear that there was a profound need for support in making their homes more accommodating. This realization led me to channel my desire to make a positive difference into action. I firmly believe that there is so much kindness to spread in the world, and by reorganizing homes for people with disabilities, we can enhance their quality of life, foster a stronger sense of community. TikkunHomeProject is my way of contributing to a more compassionate and inclusive society, one home at a time.
